Tuesday, February 2nd @ 9 PM: V1 Fireside Chat w/ Morning Brew CEO, Alex Lieberman!
We are hyped to announce that next Tuesday, V1 is hosting fellow Wolverine and Morning Brew CEO, Alex Lieberman for a fireside chat ๐๐คฉ
Alex co-founded Morning Brew (no, it's not a coffee company ๐ญ), a media startup that focuses on business newsletters and podcasts, as a student at Michigan and grew it to a $75 million dollar company.
Join us February 2nd to ask Alex all your questions! Make sure to add our calendar here to get all the latest updates about the event.
The V1 community has an enormous amount of talented individuals and we wanted to brag about them! That's why we're introducing member spotlights: a new addition to our newsletter where we'll spotlight one V1 member to highlight their accomplishments.
Member spotlight โ Raghav Bhat:
Up first is Raghav, a freshman at Michigan, who's made the V1 Community feel more like home! From taking the time to welcome every member to creating V1's very own Discord bot to setup a member directory, V1 wouldn't be what it is without him! ๐
Make sure to show him some love!
V1 Community Recap (Jan 17th - 23rd)
If you couldnโt make it to last weekโs events youโre in luck because weโve summed them up below!
At our weekly Maker Mondays, V1 Member Yash Ramchandani talked about lessons learned about customer discovery, why most student founders get it wrong, and a better way to do it. If you're interested in this hit up Yash!
Tuesday, Nick Becker, co-founder of LineLeap (YCS19) and Michigan alum, joined us to talk about YC and making a successful pivot in the midst of a pandemic. V1 Member, Abdullah compiled some notes for us here! Nick also discussed how Elon Musk ended up in a LineLeap shirt ๐
Opportunities
Last, but not least we've got some exciting opportunities to share with you this week!
Our very own V1 member, Isaac Fung, is looking to add another technical co-founder to his startup! Read on to see what he's looking for!
Isaac is working on an idea in e-commerce/logistics and despite not having an MVP yet, he's already got interested customers - some of whom already anticipate bringing in millions of dollars using the product. Isaac has connections with Pear VC as a Garage Fellow and his other co-founder has connections with NEXT 36, Canada's top entrepreneurship program.
They're looking for someone with full-stack/primarily back-end experience that can put in atleast 10+ hours a week from January to the end of April, but hopefully longer. If you're willing to put in more time, they'd look into having you as a co-founder where you'll receive an even equity split.
If you're interested in learning more, reach out to Isaac here!
Fellow V1er, Emir Erbin is looking for a Founding Software Engineer and Software Engineering Intern to join his startup, usersmagic. usersmagic makes user research and testing fast and accessible for early stage startups.
Learn more and apply here!
Desai Accelerator is looking for summer interns across a variety of roles (business, design, software engineering, video and content producer, and more) for students interested in and passionate about startups. Learn more here.
Thatโs all for todayโs newsletter but if you have any specific requests of what youโd like to see in future editions, any ideas for the V1 Community, want to contribute to the newsletter, or any thoughts at all please reach out to us via email or DM us on Twitter!
And if youโve read all this and still arenโt in the Discord community, whatโs holding you back? Join here!
